Parse error: syntax error in functions.php on line 289

9 years ago · Last reply by Bilal Haidar 9 years ago

Hi,
I was editing the functions.php file and then saving. I got this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<' in …/wp-content/themes/siteorigin-unwind/functions.php on line 289

I stepped back and downloaded the theme. Grabbed the original content of functions.php and replaced it all. Still, when I save I get this error.

Is there anything I a missing?

Thank you,
/Bilal

    Hi Bilal

In this case, you should delete the the folder using FTP by logging in and navigating to wp-content/themes/. Once you’ve deleted Unwind, you can reinstall it.

Ideally, you should be making any changes like this using child themes.

    Hello Greg,
I uploaded the functions.php file again and everything went fine. Thanks :)
