Pagebuilder isn’t working properly within my theme based on _s (underscores.me)

I’m actually more or less replying on a 6-year-old thread I found. (readable here https://siteorigin.com/thread/_wp_page_template-not-playing-nice-with-page-builder-while-using-underscores-theme/)

The problem that I’m experiencing lies somewhere within the _s theme. Whenever I install the pagebuilder and widget bundle, everything works fine until I view the frontend. No content is displaying in the frontend of my own theme (the _s theme). But when I switch to a wordpress theme, for example 2019 theme, everything works fine.

I also found that Siteorigin themes are also based on the _s theme. Which I thus find strange in my case.

I’ve tried all the wordpress troubleshooting already and nothing seems to work. I am puzzled.

I hope someone knows more about this problem and can help me fix it. Since searching on google hasn’t led me to any results.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Julian

    Thanks for reaching out.

It’s hard to say what the issue is without looking at the changes that have been done to your theme. Page Builder content is output via the_content();. Is that function in place in your page template? If it is you can perhaps try checking console errors https://wordpress.org/support/article/using-your-browser-to-diagnose-javascript-errors/#step-3-diagnosis and PHP errors to see if anything useful is being printed https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-set-up-wordpress-error-logs-in-wp-config/.

    Hey Andrew,

Thanks a lot! Totally forgot to check how the pagebuilder is loaded.

I indeed removed the the_content() function in my page template, to prevent clients from using the wysiwg editor. This did cause the problem. I added it back in and everything works fine.

You made me very happy, can’t thank you enough :D
