Settings > Reading > changed from static page to latest post. then i get a Page Not Found (since i don’t have any posts)

the static page i use for Home page is having strange Permalink issues where the suffix part is changing to name it wasn’t before.

the only change i made was update the Home page image and change the Metaslider.
i don’t know if this siteorign or other plugins.

2 weeks ago i found a text file in my cpanel, another addon domain directory “Hacked By ZeynnymouZ”. my hosting scanned for malware and said i was clean but they don’t scan for code injection. they said it might have just been a text file. ?

i’ve had this happen to several domain in my cpanel, only those that i’ve used siteorigin, Vantage, PageBuilder…

i don’t know what’s going on?

thanks for any help!

    Hi, I Work Here

Hey there freshwater. Sorry this fell through the cracks.

“Hacked By ZeynnymouZ” is not a good file to find and would suggest the site has been hacked.

Usually when dealing with Permalink issues my first step would be to go to Settings > Permalinks and click Save. No need to change the settings, just save. That writes a fresh .htaccess file. If there have been any corruptions this will sort them out.

My second idea is are you perhaps running Yoast WordPress SEO? It has the ability to redirect pages and can get in the way if you aren’t aware of what it’s doing. This usually applies when you delete pages or change page names. Clearing the redirects in WordPress SEO settings can help.

Failing this, please send a set of temp admin login details so we can take a look. I’ll post instructions for that below if required.
