Page Builder messes up “show excerpt”

Resolved 5 replies pluginplugin-page-builder

Hello,

I use Page Builder on my page, and it works just the way I want it to – until I try to show a list of posts in my right-hand sidebar, and activate the “show excerpt” option. Then the content from the page shows up instead of the post excerpt – and I really don’t know how to get that right.
If I remove “show excerpt” it stops showing the page content, but I really do want to show excerpts.

When I deactivate Page Builder it looks right.

I would really love to contiune using Page Builder, and hope there is a fix to this problem.

Thank you.

    Hi Hanne

    Thanks for reaching out.

It sounds like whatever is used to display the sidebar content is using the same filter that Page Builder uses to render it’s content. There, unfortunately, isn’t a quick way around this. How are you displaying content in the sidebar? Are you using a widget in the sidebar widget area?

    Hi Andrew,

Yes, I’m using a widget to show the posts list. I have tried a couple of different widgets, but with the same result. They show the headlines just fine, it’s when I want the excerpt to show as well that the problem starts.

Thanks for your feedback. The challenge is the way Page Builder and these widgets output their content. There is unfortunately, no hotfix I can provide. Our Post Loop widget offers the ability to list posts but requires that the theme list loop templates in a particular format. You can give it a try and see if your theme has any loops that might work with the Post Loop widget.

That’s too bad… But thank you for your quick replies! :-)

    For sure.

We’ll have a full post loop widget in the Widgets Bundle soon:

There is one in there now called the Carousel widget but only that layout.
