Page Builder by SiteOrigin Plugin Not Working

Notice: This thread is over two years old; the information may be outdated. Please consider creating a new thread if you require free support. If you have an active SiteOrigin Premium license, you can email our premium support desk at [email protected].

Hi I have installed Buildpress with no problems, apart from some poor theme documentation, and within the last 30 mins the Page Builder by SiteOrigin Plugin is not working. The site still looks ok, but when you click edit page you get a blank white screen.

If you disable the plugin you can get to the edit screen but any page that is set to use the default template (for page builder) the layout is obviously ruined.

Please advise why this is happening? See test site below…

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Websiteseveryday

Sorry to hear about the hassle. This could be caused by a plugin conflict or PHP memory shortage. To rule out a plugin conflict, temporarily deactivate all plugins not made by SiteOrigin, do so in one go. Test a Page Builder page. If the problem is resolved, reactivate your plugins one by one, doing a Page Builder test after each activation.

If the problem persists after deactivating all other plugins besides Page Builder then contact your hosts and ask them to increase the PHP memory available to WordPress to 256m. If you’re comfortable doing so yourself, this can be done from wp-config.php.

    Hi, I Work Here

Deactivate all plugins except for SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle and SiteOrigin Page Builder.

    Hi Andrew,

But some of these plugins not made by you are included with the theme and shown as necessary for the theme to work so why would they not be compatible or be conflicting?

  6. 9 years, 7 months ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

If your site is live and you’re worried about visitors seeing it with elements down then I recommend using:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-maintenance-mode/

We don’t know if it is a plugin conflict. If it is a conflict we don’t know where it’s coming from.

The initial part of a plugin conflict test is really quick. If the issue doesn’t resolve with all non-SiteOrigin plugins OFF then the test has failed and we can look elsewhere. The test is so quick that we don’t try guess which plugins might be causing the problem. Deactivate all plugins except for Page Builder and Widgets Bundle and then check your pages. If the issue is resolved then you know it’s a conflict and start testing from there.

    Hi Andrew,

I have deactivated all plugins accept the two you mention and still have a blank white page when pressing edit page from the browser.

    Whats next?

  8. 9 years, 7 months ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

That rules out a plugin conflict. Next, contact your hosts and ask them to increase your PHP memory to 256m. Or, to do it yourself:

    Hi Andrew,

I see that there was a new version of the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle plugin. I have updated and now everything (as far as I can tell) is working.

Is / was inSite for WP: personalization made easy plugin part of your theme?

    Hi, I Work Here

Super :) Glad to hear the update helped.

BuildPress is made by ProteusThemes. I haven’t used it before so I’m not sure if the plugin you’ve mentioned is bundled with BuildPress. You could reach out to theme support and ask them perhaps.

All the best with your site.
