overwriting WordPress

Hi there

I have just talked to the support of WordPress and they send me here, because my homepage is not showing up correctly. I downloaded the plugin yesterday and started creating my homepage. At midday German time I gladly finished my homepage and afterwards I got the response that the homepage is not shown correctly by others. Now WordPress tells me that your part is overwriting their part.

As I do not have the ability to post any photos I do not know how to express myself any further. The homepage you can see here: www.smith-consult.com . It looks as if large parts a missing.

Thank you for your assistance in advance.

    Hi Gudrun

    Thanks for reaching out.

Head over to AppearanceHome Page and ensure the toggle button at the top of that page is set to Off. In the future, don’t edit your home page from this location. Next, go to SettingsReading and make sure your static home page is assigned to the page you’d like to use as your home page. Finally, go to Pages and edit your assigned home page, should you wish to do so. Without further information, this is the only aspect of Vantage that I can think of that is related to your question.

If the above doesn’t help, log out of WordPress or view your home page in another browser that isn’t logged in. You’ll see that your WordPress home page content is restricted (This page is only available to members.) by a WooCommerce membership plugin. If that’s the cause of content reported as missing from your home page then it isn’t related to SiteOrigin plugins.

    Hope the above options help.

    Dear Andrew

Thank you very much for your assistance. By now I know the troublemaker. It is the plugin: Pagemaker from siteorigin. I deleted it and uploaded it again and the same problem appears.

Please, confirm that AppearanceHome Page is set to Off, then save. And that you’ve assigned a static home page at SettingsReading and then save. Earlier, your blog home page showed while you were testing because a static home page wasn’t assigned. Please confirm those two.

    Hello Andrew

There is a dilemma. When I put the page I created with the page builder of siteorigin to public I can take it as the static page, but then the toggle button switches automatically on.

    Sure, no problem.

That’s ok. Then go to AppearanceHome Page, toggle it to ON, click the Edit as a Page link and ensure that same page is set as your static home page at SettingsReading.

Once that’s set up, when editing the page click LayoutsClone: Pages and just clone the page you were working on into this new home page.

    Dear Andrew

I found the plugin which is blocking the visibility to people who are not members. The WooCommerce Membership is causing the trouble. When I deactivate it the elements that are only visible to members appear.

Super, glad to hear you’ve made progress. All the best :)
