North Theme–Changing size of Site Title and Site description in different Themes?

By VWFeature, 7 years ago. Last reply by VWFeature, 7 years ago.

In another thread, instructions on how to change size of Site Title in Vantage theme were to go to Customizing > Theme Settings
> Fonts >Site Title

I don’t see that degree of customization in the ‘North’ theme. Since I want to be able to change that without diving into CSS pages, I think I should change to Vantage.

Perhaps a ‘feature comparison’ table for the themes would be useful- just take the headings from the documentation of each theme, and list in table format. Then if someone wanted a particular feature, they’d know what theme to choose.

Putting on my ‘knowing just enough to be dangerous’ user hat, having some way to use a theme to create a site, then strip out all the unused/uncustomized settings for publication, to make the theme lighter/faster might be useful. Not sure if this would make any difference- it might be like ‘cutting the buttons off and putting them in the pocket to make it lighter,’ but thought I’d suggest to the code experts at SiteOrigin.

Another way of creating specialized themes- have packages of functions, and allow users to pick=> assemble to make a custom theme w only the features they need. (Probably a premium offering.)

So this post is more like confessional debugging- “I want to change the font size of the Site Title & description.” “Huh, I’d better change themes to one that makes it easy.” “I can do that in Vantage.” “Vantage it is, then.”

Or am I totally misunderstanding something fundamental?

Thanks for creating beautiful stuff.

Where do you get all the GORGEOUS images you use to showcase the themes?
Thanks again!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi VWFeature,

North is more of a minimal theme in both design and settings while Vantage is a multipurpose (read: expansive) theme which features quite a number of different setting and customization options. This is not to suggest that the North settings won’t ever be expanded (they’re getting expanded based on feedback basically every update), just why there are more theme settings present in Vantage. I’m going to log your setting requests as it would be a good idea to expand the overall font sizing options.

If you would rather not use CSS (which we can definitely assist with), then yes, Vantage likely would be the overall better choice for you at the moment.

I’ll also log your other suggestions – thank you. :)

I just asked and Ian (he’s the one responsible for all of the site packs) typically sources from Unsplash which contains nothing but Creative Commons Zero licensed images.
