No comments & Archive template not displayed right

By Tim Riese, 9 years ago. Last reply by Andrew Misplon, 9 years ago.

Ok, I have a two part question. I have an internal blog page setup for my posts to appear to. I understand that comments from the posts will not appear unless the post is viewed in a ‘single post page’. You specified in other posts to go Appearance > Theme Settings > Blog in order to change to ‘excerpt’. I’m using Origami 1.6.2 and there is NO Blog tab under Appearance > Theme Settings. I tested and can use the ‘more’ tag in WordPress to split the post up, but I’m concerned about why I don’t have blog options in the appearance menu.

Second question. When I built my blog page, before creating a post, I used the ‘Archives’ template so there would be a column for easy searching of the blog posts. When I created my first post it posted to my blog page but in a full width style that does not contain any of the ‘archives’ template features that I originally set the page up with.

Here’s a link to my blog page: http://jaclynfriedlander.com/blog/

I think I’ve managed to create the blog page how i want it using a series of widgets in the page builder. I still can’t find Appearance -> Theme Settings -> Blog. Perhaps that tab does not exist in the Origami Theme. For now I’ll have to use the more tag to split up the posts…

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Tim

The instructions you looked at while broadly applicable were for Vantage, not Origami, hence the missing theme option.

Origami is a minimal theme and unfortunately doesn’t offer a sidebar if that’s what you were discussing with regards to Archives. What you can do is on your Blog page set the page template to Default and then use our Page Builder plugin to insert two columns. In one column you could use the Post Loop widget to pull your posts.

If you set your page template to Archives it’ll automatically create an archives page for you but won’t render any content inserted on that page.
