More tag not working in Page Builder

I tried adding the More tag using Black Studio’s Visual Editor. It doesn’t work, the post is fully presented while posts not using Visual Editor present the read more link as predicted.
I read on this forum, I understand you’re saying it’s an issue with Black Studio. Marco says it’s not. I tried adding a regular text widget and putting the more comment, as I saw on the Text version of another post. It also doesn’t work, so it does seem like an issue of Page Builder and not an issue of Black Studio.

Please advise.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Yariv

We’ve looked at this on and off for a while now. I think the root of the problem is that the more tag isn’t designed to operate within Page Builder/widgets, it’s designed to work in the regular content area. Page Builder content isn’t stored in the same variable as regular content. It’s something that our developers might be able to look into one day but unfortunately isn’t on the radar for anytime soon. Sorry I don’t have better news here. When I say “our developers” I mean Greg and Braam. We’re a super small team, it’s just the three of us. This means, as much as possible focussing on the core of the product. On the whole that’s pages, layouts and widgets.

    Andrew,

I’m afraid this is core functionality for a blog, and conventional wisdom for SEO optimization suggests that content should not be duplicated and crawled fully on the post index page. We were seriously considering using this product, as it is very well done, but will need to pass given this issue.

Are there any alternative ways to get around this issue with SiteOrigin?

    Thanks,
    Abram

hi, what can help is to create all content in page builder as you want, ant than copy in text editor whole text. After that you return to pagebuilder and delete all your rows. When is that ready update your page. After updating your page write to visual any text and use moretag to make sure it will be displayed. save the page and test it out. If its working go back to visual , delete test text and paste down the whole page you copied before to clipboard. Save and update. Your text will be in the way you want it to be and moretag will be applied. Thats a little thing that worked for me. Hope it will help. Try to play with it for a while in this concept

So its been about 2 years since this thread started. Has there been any progress on the more tag issue?

Well upon further review of the forum it appears, that while this is a VERY well known issue there is no solution yet. Which sadly means I won’t be using page builder at all since using the more tag is pretty key to the theme I am using which builds template pages that use this tag as a core function to create aggregate pages for stories etc. Its really a shame since this is a great tool.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Tracy

Thanks for following this up. I wish this was resolved too. We ran into a few challenges at the time that couldn’t be easily overcome. I’ll raise this again for investigation. All the best with your site, I hope you find the tools you need to get the job done. I’m sorry it couldn’t be Page Builder at the moment.

    Hi, I Work Here

It does seem to be working. Are you using the Visual Editor widget or the SiteOrigin Editor widget to insert the more tag?
