Hello,
I am using them “Vantage Premium” and I have the problem that my menu button which is pointing to my home page for some reason doesn’t change color when I point with the mouse, all the other menu buttons change properly except this one. The text on the menu buttons should change from white to black, and the background of the button from black to white. I played several hours with several option on the “Customize” option, I changed color on all the buttons, except that one. If I modify the menu structure with a one with “Custom Link” and I point it to the home address, in this case www.zidgy.com the button present the same problem, but if I change the addres, for example www.zidgyssss.com it works properly, the colors but ofcourse, this is not the right link. I already played several hours, so I wonder if you could give a better idea of what could be the problem.
Looking forward
Thank you.
Hi
Thanks for reaching out.
Go to AppearanceCustomizeTheme DesignMenu and locate the Current Menu Item options. The behaviour you’re seeing applies to the menu item of the page the user is on. You can control the Current Menu Background and Color from the Menu section in Customize > Theme Design.
I can’t locate “Current Menu Item”, when I go go “Appearance” -> “Customize” -> “Them Design” -> “Menu” the only options that I can see are:
Menu Alignment
Background
Text Color
Second Level Background
Second Level Text
Hover Background
Hover Text
Second Level Hover
Second Level Hover Text
Icon Color
Icon Hover Color
Current Page Background (THIS ONE CHANGE COLOR AROUND THE HOME BUTTON)
Current Page Text (THIS ONE CHANGE COLOR OF THE TEXT HOME BUTTON)
Search Icon Background
Search Icon Color
Search Icon Hover Color
Search Input Background
Search Input Text
Menu Item Padding(px)
Menu Font Size
Header Widget Menu Border Color
The only buttons that have effect around the HOME button is “Current Page Background” and “Current Page Text”, but when I place the mouse over the button the internal text change to black which is ok, but the background of the button still black.
I noticed if I go to: “Appearance” -> “Home Page” there is a option call “Custom Home Page” where you can set “On” or “OFF”, If I set “OFF” the HOME menu button works fine, but changing it to “ON” present the same problem.
I think a found the problem!, the them seems to work fine, it think I was just expecting something different. The menu works fine, we are currently on Home page, and we point the mouse on the same HOME menu button will seem like work on different way than the other buttons, but if i change page, lets say I press “PRODUCTS” it will link us to the products page, then the “HOME” button will work fine, now the “PRODUCTS” menu button will be the one presenting the different effect then the others, I think is just how it works.
Here is my site: http://www.zidgy.com
just in case someone would like to confirm,
Thank you!
Thanks for your feedback.
Current Page Background (THIS ONE CHANGE COLOR AROUND THE HOME BUTTON)
Current Page Text (THIS ONE CHANGE COLOR OF THE TEXT HOME BUTTON)
Correct, these settings will change the colors of the page you are on. As you mentioned the same effect will occur if you’re on the product page. It isn’t essential to use these settings if they don’t suit your site. It isn’t ideal to have Current Page Text set to black. I’d recommend setting that to white so it matches your menu.
Hopefully this helps and these settings make sense now :)
Basically, those two settings:
Current Page Background (THIS ONE CHANGE COLOR AROUND THE HOME BUTTON)
Current Page Text (THIS ONE CHANGE COLOR OF THE TEXT HOME BUTTON)
They allow you to indicate to the user which page they are on. They aren’t specific to the home page, they’re specific to whatever page the user is on. You can set them to the same colors as your other menu items and then you won’t notice them.
I totally understand now, I will change some of the background colors in order to have a better contrast on the menus.
Thank you so much for your fast response.
Awesome :) Glad that made sense in the end. If anything else comes up, please, let us know.
Cheers for now. Best of luck with your website.
