What is the manual process to update from so Widget version 1.6.4 to 1.7.1? (I’m working on a website that doesn’t permit FTP or cpanel access … also SElinux settings are very restrictive.. manual install is the only way to go)

Thanks,
John

    Hi John,

So, to clarify, how do you have access to the plugin files? If you don’t have FTP or cPanel I’m unsure of how you’re going to do a manual install.

    Hi John,

As in SSH? It’s odd that you have SSH and not FTP. Oh well. Well, the easiest way would be to use WP-CLI but that may not be an option.

You’ll need to navigate to your WordPress install, then wp-content/plugins/ You’ll need to remove so-widgets-bundle and then get the latest version of the plugin from WordPress.org. Then you’ll need to extract it. Please refer to this page for more information on how to exactly do this.
