main page container grid –

hi –

i tried everything available and im stuck –

i need make the the home page post container grid show all 16 posts on the main page. (below slider) – as is it only allows 15 – as is, in the bottom left corner of grid… it shows an arrow to the left with “older posts” – offering a second page –

i want everything on one page – now 16 – in the future – more like 18 or 21…or?

also how can i get that arrow and “older posts” to be on the bottom right corner of the post container grid if i want that option in the future – and possibly change the verbage of “older posts” to something else or just have the arrow…

please assist!

thanks – shane

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Shane

You should be able to adjust the number of posts displayed on the home page by changing the post per page setting at Settings > Reading.

The older posts link appears in the bottom left corner because the newer posts link appears in the bottom right corner. That’s a design pattern, I’m not sure you’d want to reverse that. New to your right, old to your left.

To change the text in those links you’d need to create a child theme for Focus. Create a functions.php file within that child theme and insert the first function from /wp-content/themes/focus/inc/template-tags.php into your new functions.php file and edit as required.

    thanks andrew!
    easy fix.

i was wanting to write something like “here” and “there” or “more” and “less” with the arrows – (not older or newer as im not concerned with catergorizing as past and present or older and newer )

child theme? – i think we tried that previously… and it jacked my site up! so im kinda lost on how i would do that – can you explain this to me a little more? – i can shoot you temp access if need be – thanks again!

thanks for your time and consideration – S

    Hi, I Work Here

    For sure.

A child theme when activated will cause any changes you’ve made via Appearance > Customize or Appearance > Menus to reset. So you’d need to test the child theme and then re-do those settings if it works.

    Here we go: https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/focus-child-change-older-newer.zip

    Download the ZIP. Unzip it.
    Edit functions.php.
Change wording on line 41 and 45.
    Re-zip.
Install via Appearance > Themes > Add New: Upload Theme.
