hi, apologies that I have not been able to fathom this myself but is it possible to upload images and pdf files in order to simply have them available on a button click?

ie. I do not necessarily want them on a page but on click and, in the case of .pdf, downloadable

many thanks

phil

I should add that I have tried simply uploading to the media library and the pdf is currently larger than the allowed 2MB – is there a way of circumventing this without remaking the file at lower quality?

and… if the above is possible, can access by via the menu or do all menu items have to have a visible page?

The answer to 2. above not critical now as have managed tot reduce document size to 2MB and maintain appropriate quality.

Have installed BSK pdf manager and added widget to appropriate page – and then uploaded pdf file specifically to that widget.

However placing widget within Page Builder the actual web page displays the title of the pdf but not the pdf itself.

Obviously even if i can get this working it does not necessarily fulfil the original intent to simply have a link text / button

pants. yet another linked question… can I upload short avi or similar clips to media library and then link to those?
or, can i use video without linking tot external pages such as youtube / vimeo etc?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi phil

You can upload PDF’s, video or audio files to the media library. Once the item is in the library, navigate to it and click on the file, in the right column you’ll then see the url for the file. Copy that to your clipboard. You can now highlight text in a post or page, click the link button and enter your url in as the link. If you’re working in Page Builder you’d use the Visual Editor widget to do this: http://wordpress.org/plugins/black-studio-tinymce-widget/.

Here are a few methods by which you can increase the maximum media upload size: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-increase-the-maximum-file-upload-size-in-wordpress/.
