    Ouch, this problem is nasty, but luckily there’s a really quick and easy fix.

    In summary – you need to log in to your server using FTP, make sure hidden file are being displayed, and delete the file called .maintenance. It should be in the root folder of your WordPress installation.

    This issue comes up when there’s a problem installing an update. Most of the time you can just delete the maintenance file, then redo the update. It should go through without any problems the second time.
