Issues with site identity updates

Our website is being built by a pro, but I’ll be managing and, I hope, updating it once we get it from him.

I’ve been given access to it already, but I can’t get the site identity to show the changes I make. For example, I can right justify the text in the header and have it show up as such when I edit it, but not appear that way when I load the website as I would any other site.

Pictures A & B illustrate this. Picture A shows the website as it is seen in Chrome, FF, and IE. Picture B shows how it is seen in the wp-editor.

There’s also a picture in that header that we asked the website builder to insert. Now we’d like to experiment with something else and maybe use a slider, but I can’t find the picture in that header.

The theme is being custom built, and I’m thinking that that might be why I can’t find the picture or get the updates to work. I’ve also disabled the plugins which I felt I could without interfering with the development of the site.

I’m not a programmer, but I feel comfortable with HTML and I’m learning CSS.

Ideas anyone?

Bruce
