Is there a setting in Pitch theme that affects Lightbox functionality?

Hi Greg – I’m trying to add an image gallery to my website but when I click on any thumbnail, the lightbox image doesn’t zoom to display a larger image. I’ve tried using different image plugins but I’ve encountered the same problem with all of them. I was wondering if it might have to do with a setting in my Pitch theme????

Hi Patty. Pitch uses it’s own gallery, to get a thumbnail / lightbox gallery going you need to override the Pitch gallery. On the page you’re working on, click over to the Text tab where you’ll see the gallery shortcode, add type=”default” to your shortcode.

I recommend this lightbox plugin: http://www.dfactory.eu/plugins/responsive-lightbox/ or the one bundled with WordPress Jetpack.

Hi Andrew. Thank you so much for responding so quickly. I really appreciate the Support team at SiteOrigin. I’m using the NextGEN Gallery plugin. I wasn’t sure exactly where to add –> type=”default”. Please see below — the code behind the TEXT tab looks as follows:

I also added the responsive-lightbox plugin but nothing has changed. I still get small images when I click on my thumbnails. Do you know what I’m doing wrong? Please advise. Thank you again.

The solution I’m proposing doesn’t involve NextGen, that’s another story. I’m not sure about that plugin interacting with Pitch. Try turning NextGen off so you can see what I mean. On any page hit the Add Media button, add a gallery and then click over to the Text tab, you’ll see something like:

    [ gallery ids="13,5" ]

Now add type=”default” so it looks like this:

    [ gallery ids="13,5" type="default" ]

There should not be a space after the bracket open and before the bracket close. I just put those in there to allow these comments to get pasted in here as we also use square brackets to denote a piece of code so the system gets confused with a situation like this.

Hi Andrew – I disabled NextGEN and added a gallery using the Media button. I added type=”default” to the code. With or without adding type=”default”, I get a large image slideshow even though I selected the Thumbnail Grid. I’d like to display the thumbnails and just give the user the option to click on an individual thumbnails and enlarge the selected image.

Why do I get a slideshow display when I select Thumbnail Grid? Also, what is the recommended image size? (My images look grainy and blurred. What size should they be)? Thank you so much for helping me with this. I appreciate your time and patience.
