Influence WordPress Theme not working in IE8

I am using the influence theme for my website:

Everything you need to know to build a straw bale house:

And it looks great in every other browser but in Internet Explorer 8 it does not work.

Oddly, the other pages work e.g:

Week 1

but not the home page.

    Thanks for your support.

    Inline with many others (Google, Microsoft, major theme companies) we’ve adopted a browser compatibility policy of support for the current version and two back. This allows us to spend our development time more productively and in the end, deliver a better product. This unfortunately doesn’t cover IE8.

    Sorry I don’t have better news here.
