Incompatibility issues with the Spacious Pro theme?

By hjm, 7 years ago. Last reply by hjm, 7 years ago.

Are compatibility problems with the Spacious Pro theme a known issue for the SiteOrigin Page Builder plugin?

If so, are there any fixes/work-arounds you can hip me to?

I really like the Spacious theme by ThemeGrill — so much so, I purchased the upgrade to their Pro version for a new site I’m designing. I also really like the SiteOrigin plugins too and have been using them in the new site too.

But unfortunately, using your Page Builder messes up the home page slider in Spacious Pro’s Business Template: It adds extra “ghost” dashes below the slider. The way it’s supposed to work is, there is one dash displayed for each slide in the slideshow — for instance, 5 dashes for 5 slides/images/page links. Using SiteOrigin plugins adds three or more additional dashes, but clicking on them just causes the slider to collapse with a flash of code, then the page is messed up.

ThemeGrill support instructed me to disable the SiteOrigin plugin to eliminate the problem. That fixes the slider, but destroys other pages I’ve built using SiteOrigin widgets (of course).

Is there a solution to this that would let me continue using the Spacious Pro theme with your SiteOrigin widgets — like upgrading to SiteOrigin Premium, a CSS fix, or anything else? Well, almost anything else. I’d hate to hear I threw away my money buying the Spacious Pro theme. ;)

Please advise, and thank you!

    Hi Hjm

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? We’d probably be able to figure out the problem from a quick investigation.

Sure, you can check it at http://98c.22f.myftpupload.com/

ThemeGrill said this is cause (no solution-just the cause–urgh!):

We have used the jQuery Cycle 2 script in our theme to load the slider and also the Site Origin widgets bundle too uses the same. Hence the issue has occurred. Hope you are getting this. Thanks.

Aaah, okay, so this is mainly a conflict between our slider widgets and the ThemeGrill theme then. You could technically just disable all the slider plugins for the Widget Bundle. If you can live without those, then that’ll avoid the conflict. If our sliders aren’t being used, then they won’t load the code which is causing conflicts with ThemeGrill’s theme.

Are you using slider widgets anywhere? Like your Page Builder pages or WordPress sidebars.

Oh, I see. I am using the SiteOrigin Hero widget on one other page – I like it! Is the Hero what you’re referring to as a slider widget?

Or are there other slider widgets in the bundle that also could be causing the conflict?

I can try changing the Hero on that one page to a Meta slider, or rebuilding with the Spacious Pro business template.

Just how exactly would I disable one widget within the bundle plugin? Just don’t use it?
