Hi there,
I thought that the loss of icons all over my Vantage Premium themed page was due to not updating for a long time. Now that I’ve updated everything, the icons (search, back to top, socials in footer, circle icons etc.) are still missing. I have changed some CSS settings, but the loss happened later. I’ve deactivated all plug-ins, but they weren’t the cause.
Can somebody have a look at the page and tell me what I need to change?
Cheers,
Martin

Hi Martin
Sorry to hear about the hassle. Please can you try contacting your hosting company and let them know what’s happening. You can send through the following with your email:
The above files have a query at the end to cache bust when an update is made (stop browsers loading old versions when we make a change). Unfortunately some servers don’t like this query and block the resource as a result. Usually hosts can help out.
Let us know how it goes.
(Are you using an IIS server?)
Hallo Andrew,
I’ve talked to two people at my server host and they were able to identify the query problem quickly, but don’t know what to do about it. They are of the opinion that this might be a bug in the theme.
Actually I had the problem at my former host, too. I thought it was a problem of updating the theme. I’ve moved to a new host just a couple of days ago, updated there, but the problem remains the same.
Is there a chance of altering the php slightly to suppress the query?
Cheers,
Martin
P.S.: The host didn’t know anything about IIS. They said it’s a Linux server. (hope that helps)
P.P.S: Apache
Ok thanks, just wanted to clear that up.
If you do a quick Google search on this issue there are loads of threads. The query string doesn’t cause issues with the majority of users. It’s useful for updates. Changing the string means that your site won’t load a cached version of the files and render the new icons, if any are introduced.
Please can you check, are using any security related plugins?
Are you using any security related services like: https://sucuri.net/ ?
Well, embarrassing as it is: a .htaccess file restricted the file access. Now that I’ve included the file endings, everything’s fine again. So it was neither the theme nor the server. I’m sorry to have troubled you.
That’s really useful to know. Thanks for sending this feedback through, much appreciated. Glad you found the cause!
All the best.
