Hi,
Ive tried to make some translations in the vantage premium theme,
is there an easy way to change the html placeholder from “search” to “suchen”.
I also want to translate the 404 text to german.

Thanks.
Best regards, Jens

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jens

Translating the theme is unfortunately a fair bit of admin.

You could also manually translate using a child theme. Here is a stater child theme you can use:

    https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/vantage-child-vanilla.zip

Unzip it and copy (not cut) 404.php and searchform.php from the parent theme into the child theme. Change what you want to change, re-zip and install the child theme from Appearance > Themes > Add New.

Activating a child theme will cause Customizer, Menu and Widgets settings to reset.

See how that goes. Test things out before redoing any settings.
