    By update the footer, do you mean add widgets to the footer? You can do this by navigating to Appearance > Widgets. Add any widgets you need to the Footer widget area and they’ll show up in your footer.

    Head to Appearance > Theme Settings > General: Site Information Text to update the field that sits below the footer widget area, mostly used for copyright. It does accept HTML if you need to say bold a word or add a link.
