How to Deactivate old Website

By Jacob.F, 4 years ago. Last reply by Andrew Misplon, 4 years ago.

Hello Site Origin,

I am seeking information on how to deactivate an old dated website that my organization made using your software. I have looked for a telephone number to speak with a representative, but this seems like the only way possible to get in touch with you. This website was certainly useful when it was created but it has become outdated and does more harm than good for our organization at this point. Additionally we have no idea who last had the login information to access this website.

Any help in resolving this issue will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jacob

    Thanks for reaching out.

Unfortunately, we don’t offer any hosting, as a result, we don’t have direct control over the way our products are used.

If the hosting is being paid for, you could try tracking down the host that way, they would be in a position to remove a site.

    Andrew,

Thank you for your quick reply to my question. How would you suggest I go about tracking down the host if they are not paid, as I believe the website is of the free variety. We have lost access to our login information long time ago.

    Hi, I Work Here

Hi Jake, you can come at this from the domain. Try a tool like https://whois.net/. I checked now and the domain registrar is http://www.domain.com. You’d need to explain the situation and why you no longer have access. It’ll most likely be a process that requires specific paperwork. The domain registrar can point the domain anywhere or deregister it. Good luck.
