I can’t find a particular font style within the customize area for my theme. Is there anyway to add a new font as an option? I downloaded the .zip file of the font, but don’t know what to do with it.

Unfortunately, you can’t add a custom font to this dropdown. You’d need to add the font face using some custom CSS. This is a guide that’ll point you in the right direction – http://codex.wordpress.org/Playing_With_Fonts
I’ve marked this thread as a feature request. We often check these out when deciding on what new features to add to our themes. I’d really like to add the option of uploading your own fonts.
