How do I install the Legacy Widget into my WordPress account?

Hi,
I’m being prompted to use a Legacy Widget in order to keep using some essential widgets on my site. It says to download the legacy widget and install it in order to continue using the widgets. So I click on the link and a download immediately starts on my macbook and stores the files in my downloads folder. I have no idea how to get it from my downloads folder on my computer to my plugins page in WordPress?? The upload function in the plugins page only uploads zip files so is of no help to me. There are no zip files in the legacy download.
What am I doing wrong. Why when I click on the Legacy Widget link does it not automatically place the legacy widget into my plugins/widget folder in WordPress like all the other WordPress widgets? That would be so much easier than downloading a separate file onto my computer.
This is driving me nuts!!! Can anyone help me with this?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi thekettlebellguy

Please disable Safari Auto-Unzip: https://wiki.umbc.edu/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=31919091. This will leave you with a ZIP file which can be installed via Plugins > Add New like normal.

However we are facing one or two small widget issues with the plugin. So once it’s installed please de-activate it. When you next see an update become available for it you can then go-ahead and re-activate it.

Thank you so much, that worked perfectly. I shall not activate it until further notice. I appreciate your prompt response to my problem.

No problem. Glad you found a solution there. To confirm, when you next see Dashboard > Updates offer an update to Legacy Widgets you can then upgrade it and activate the plugin.

    Cheers
