Hello everyone. I am trying to insert a google map in my website where I am using the vantage free theme . But i really can’t understand how to do so. I installed the plugin AppMaps . I did not find any Geo settings in my dashboard. I tried to follow the instructions from this link : http://docs.appthemes.com/tutorials/setting-up-maps-and-using-map-widgets/ I don’t have any widget named “Vantage – Listing/Event Location widget” in my widget section. I am a complete newbie in building wordpress website and this is my very first project. I am really sorry if my question is inconvenient in any way. Any kind of help will be highly appreciated. thanks in advance.
How can I insert a Google map?

Hello. Check out this site
http://www.addmap.org/
after you find your location hit “generate code” button. Next you should go to your dashboard and find the location where you want to put the map, for instance you can create a new page and call it Contact and paste the code into the Text box. It should work :)
Cheers
Hi. There are indeed lots of plugins out there you can use for this process but like Piter I also find it much simpler to use: http://www.addmap.org/. Once your code has been generated just insert it via the Text widget using our Page Builder plugin or under Appearance > Widgets if you want to insert it into any widget area there.
Thanks for the reply Piter.
Sorry to tag on here, but I have a couple of questions. I am using Vantage Premium, and need to display 2 map locations.
At first, I tried several widgets but each had an issue of it’s own, making me think that the widget might conflict with the theme. When I stumbled across this, I tried it BUT it appears that adding the 2nd location causes issues, namely, the latter location is displayed in the location that was inserted first.
Second question is really straightforward… any way to get the map to create a new window or popup? I’d argue most people are clicking map graphics expecting it to launch something, I suppose I could add a link to the google page beneath the map…
Here’s a link, thanks in advance for checking this out!

Hi Jeff
If you don’t need too much functionality from your map then it’s worth trying: http://www.embed-google-map.com/. Use the Text widget to insert the code provided.
I unfortunately haven’t seen a plugin or code that launched a map when clicked on. As you mentioned, linking to the map below with a text link might be the answer there.
