home page with slider not showing on Safari

By Ziabelle, 7 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 7 years ago.

Hello,
I’m using SiteOrigine Slider on the home page of my new site : http://www.laquestiondubeurre.fr/ (work in progress)
The theme is Create (Version 1.1.8) from ThemeTrust.
It works great on both Chrome and Firefox, but doesn’t display on Safari.
I’ve tested on several version of Safari, including the very last one, and nothing appears on the page, it’s empty.

(only the home page has a problem, I tested another page (http://www.laquestiondubeurre.fr/contact/) and it’s OK (it’s just a test, with a simple button), so obviously the problem is with the Slider only.

I asked the Create Theme already, and they advised me to tell you about this issue, maybe you have a fix for that already, since that have happened with the widget.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Isabelle

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Isabelle,

Preaface: There are currently no known issues with the slider in Safari.

This sounds like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

If none of the above helps, can you try using the main version of the Widgets Bundle? Please navigate to WP AdminPlugins and deactivate the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle you’re using (it’ll likely have create in the title or something like that). Then install this version and see if the problem persists.

    hello Alex,
    thanks for your email.
I just went into the process of trying your solutions.
    But unfortunately nothing works.
Desactivating all the other plug-ins : I did, but problem still there (the slider doesn’t show on Safari)
Trying with a default template : I tried with Twenty Sixteen but the problem still remains
and I tried to get rid of the “”SiteOrigin Widget Bundle for Create”” and use the main version of the plug-in, but it doesn’t solve anything.
(and I didn’t forget to clear all caches)

I could use another slider but I really like your plug-in, so I’d rather find a solution…

    What do you suggest ?
    thanks in advance

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi isabelle,

At this point, I’m not too sure how to proceed as we’re unable to replicate this issue on any other site. We can however see it’s not working on your site.

To clarify, did you try switching to the main version of the plugin for both the page builder and the Widgets Bundle?

Could you please view the slider in Safari and send me the contents of your console? Please refer to this guide on how to access your browser console.

    Hi Alex,
Yes I switched to the main version of the plug-in for both page builder and Widgets bundle.
Now I can see that I have the same problem on mobile phones (Safari of course, but also Google Chrome and Firefox, it only works on Opera on Iphone)
and also I worked on the development of another page, without the slider but with images and text, and the problem is that the images are not showing (on Safari still)
So the problem is probable caused by something related to the photos (and not only the slider)

Here is the content of my console, for both Home page and other page
    home_page

    page 1

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi isabelle,

If you can confirm that those images do in fact exist, this is likely a server issue rather than a direct issue with your website. If this is the case, I would recommend contacting your hosting provider to see if they have any ideas.

I just tried viewing your website in Chrome and wasn’t able to replicate this issue. I previously tried on an iPhone and was able to replicate it but that’s not unreasonable consider it’s also using Safari.

    Hi,
I figured what the problem was : I had used spaces between words in the file (images) names !
I knew that we were not allowed to use specific characters or accents but didn’t know for spaces …
Apparently Safari doesn’t handle it so well as the other browsers.
    Thanks for your help
