Home page doesn’t load at CSS visual editor

Hello,
With the plug-in SiteOrigin CSS, its visual editor doesn’t load the home page at first – the Console alerts that there is a mixed content issue trying to load it via http and not https (I just migrated to https recently).
The warning is something like (I hide my domain):

Mixed Content: The page at ‘https://www(…)/wp-admin/themes.php?page=so_custom_css’ was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure resource ‘http://www(…)/?so_css_preview=1’

If I enter another page address from my website manually at the address bar, then it loads ok (and if then I click the link to the Home page, it is shown correctly). So the problem is only displaying the home page when clicking the visual editor button.
The customer service of my hosting company says that everything is ok by their side, and that it may be an issue from the plug-in.
Reading similar problems in the forum, I made the typical checks with no luck – I made sure that the urls at Setings/General are https://…, I deactivated all the plug-ins, I changed the theme… but the problem remains.
Can I get some help?
Thank you!

Héctor

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Héctor,

This issue occurs when there are still references to the non-https version of your website. Please install Better Search and Replace and navigate to WP AdminToolsBetter Search and Replace.

    Replace: http://www.YOURDOMAIN.TLD
    With: https://www.YOURDOMAIN.TLD

Replace yourdomain.tld with your domain name.

    Hi Alex,
I have run the plug-in, and according to my hosting company there are no references left with http://
However, the problem remains, and the message in the Console is the same

Mixed Content: The page at ‘https://www(…)/wp-admin/themes.php?page=so_custom_css’ was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure resource ‘http://www(…)/?so_css_preview=1’

Does this make any sense? Any idea for me to try?…

    Thank you,

    Héctor

    Hi Héctor,

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Héctor,

Unfortunately, I can’t seem to access your website – I’m getting a 502 error. Do I need to do something specific to access your website or do you need to whitelist me (or anything like that) to access your login page?

Maybe it was the plug-in Wordfence? I deactivated it. I also logged out. Can you try now?

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Héctor,

Unfortunately, I’m still getting a 502 error when I view your login page.
Did you disable Wordfence in the Wordfence settings or did you deactivate the plugin? I ask as Wordfence will continue to run if the plugin is deactivated so you’ll need to disable Wordfence via its settings.

I just uninstalled the plug-in. Can you enter now?

    Thank you ALex

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Héctor,

Unfortunately, I’m still not able to access it. Can you please clarify what country (or if you would prefer, region) you’re based in? I’ll connect to your website from that country/region to rule out geoblocking.

Spain. I found that there should be no problem with 2 admin users logged in simultaneously, right? (so I can check things at the same time also)

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Héctor,

Thanks. I was able to connect to your website while using a VPN based in Spain. This means that you have some form of geoblocking associated with your WP Admin – this is perfectly fine and really recommended.

I ran a few tests and I’m unable to identify why your website is still referencing the HTTP version of that page. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

This is now solved, thank you for your efforts Alex.
We think it was some kind of problem on the server side, that tried to load this http version of the page even when the code called the https one, maybe a cache… well I switched the hosting company for a variety of reasons and now it’s OK.

    Thank you!
