    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Muhtesem

    Thanks for reaching out.

It’s best to clear WP Super Cache and de-activate the plugin until you’ve finished developing your site.

Please send us a temporary set of login details and we’ll take a look at the home page save issue. Details to follow.

    Hi, I Work Here

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:

    [email protected]

Just navigate to Users > Add New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and [email protected] for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the “Send Password” field so we receive the details.

Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks. Do you know if there is caching being performed by your hosting company? Are you able to turn it off or clear it?

We ideally need to test with your social plugin off. I’ve de-activated it. In spite of the header widget area being clear, the icons are still showing on the front end. WP Super Cache has been cleared and de-activated. I can only think there is caching at a higher level.

Appearance > Home Page is forwarding from the admin to the front end on save. That shouldn’t happen.

Please let me know re: caching. We’ll try figure this out from there.

I have re-installed the theme and at that moment I also cleaned up database but I dont anything related to cache that I also have to clean up.
I have realized that also I cannot update the file “Vantage: Footer (parts/footer.php)”
So something is wrong with the theme but special to me I guess?
I have asked to the hosting company they did not reply yet and I also checked it from CPanel I found nothign there, or maybe I dont know where to look.
so I am kind a stucked in this issue,

    Hi, I Work Here

Please let me know what your hosting company says. The site front end isn’t reflecting what’s added to the header widget area. Or it wasn’t when I looked. The usually indicates cached data.

I have realized that also I cannot update the file “Vantage: Footer (parts/footer.php)”

    Please provide further info here.

(Don’t forget you need to use a child theme if you’d like to edit theme files at a code level).

    Hi, I Work Here

If you were working at Appearance > Editor and couldn’t save that would indicate a core WordPress issue, not necessarily a Vantage issue. The Editor is handled by the core. Switching to a default theme like Twenty Fifteen and trying to save via the Editor would confirm this.

  9. 9 years, 2 months ago Muhtesem Wexins

Ok I ll let you know about the update from the company it can take a day to get response.

About code level update; I have tried to chnage the code in the page in the Appearance > Editor > Footer.
It is just a simple ahref link remove.
I like the theme and i dont want to switch it so probably I will not be able to solve this issue.
But because I have followed a youtube video I think something is wrong with my settings or rights. ( no clue )

    Hi, I Work Here

    Thanks.

All WordPress.org themes completely overwrite their own folder during theme updates. If you make a change via Appearance > Editor and aren’t working from a child theme that change will be lost when you update your theme to its latest version. This applies to all themes on the directory.

Something does appear to be wrong with the core setup. To test go to Appearance > Themes, change to a default theme like Twenty Fifteen. Try make an edit via Appearance > Editor. See if the result is the same.

    Hi, I Work Here

No problem to change themes and change back.

    Hi Andrew,

In Cpanel I searched for cache under the File Manager and I found a lot of cache extended files but dunno which one i am supposed to delete.

  15. 9 years, 2 months ago Andrew Misplon
    Hi, I Work Here

Sorry, wish I was more up to date with cPanel’s setup. The cache files are just the result though. Ideally you need to locate the setting for caching and disable it for the moment.

    Hi, I Work Here

Your icons are now displaying. Have things resolved?

  17. 9 years, 2 months ago Muhtesem Wexins

In custom home page there are two features you have to take into account 1-
turn on the custom home page and after the changes you made 2- save the page. In my case both did not work and still not working.
    That was my struggle.
Then I have created a page an set it as a static page and from the quick menu ( Your website name -> Dashboard -> in the new page on the right side
-> "Edit your front page" from there i have added the widgets and I click on update. Whenever I wanna change something via Appearance -> Home page it is NOT working but from Dashboard -> Edit your front page it works.
So I think mine is work around not a real solution
And now I am trying to solve the footer issues ( I dont wanna see
SiteOrigin link) and need to learn what is child theme.
Andrew I am so much thankful to you for your help and kindness.
    Greetings
    HK

    Hi, I Work Here

    Thanks for your feedback.

Appearance > Home Page is a shortcut for Pages > Home. You can easily work on your home page from Pages > Home, edit the designated home page and click the Page Builder tab. That’ll be the same as Appearance > Home Page.

We cover our premium offering at Appearance > Vantage Premium. You can pay what you want starting from $5. The attribution link will be removed on upgrade.

If you’d like to learn about child themes, please, see:

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

Here is a starter child theme for Vantage:
