Hero widget not working and pages now not showing

By Samantha Lackford, 6 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 6 years ago.

Hello

The Hero widget has stopped working on my website and one of my pages was showing the WordPress login page instead of the correct content. My website host (Siteground) have looked into it and can’t help, they suggested I contact you directly.

all pages of my website are now showing a 404 error, apart from the home page.

Can you help help get everything working again?

website is www.curelwellbeing.org.uk

Thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Samantha,

This sounds like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Hi Alex

Thanks for this. Everything is now working apart from the one biography page, which is now still showing a wordpress installation page. It asks for log in details for my website in order to install wordpress. There are two other biography pages, using exactly the same widgets, that are working correctly. I think a widget called TablePress was causing problems with the hero widget, this is now resolved, but this one page is still not sorted. If you can help that would be great.

Here is a link to the page: http://www.curelwellbeing.org.uk/sam/
This page uses exactly the same layout and widgets and is working correctly: http://www.curelwellbeing.org.uk/alice/

    Many thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Sam,

The issue with http://www.curelwellbeing.org.uk/sam/ is a sign that there’s another directory with WordPress present in it. I would recommend FTP into your website and check if there is a Sam directory, and if there is, I would recommend deleting it. If you’re unfamiliar with using FTP I would recommend getting in contact with your hosting provider for assistance.
