Google Maps widget incompatible with theme

Hello–

I’ve been having trouble getting markers and even standard Google Maps controls (zoom, etc) to display using the SiteOrigin widget. I believe there is an incompatibility with my theme (UU 2014) since the maps display as expected in Twenty Sixteen.

The developer of the theme seems hard to reach. Is there anything obvious I can try to get around this without abandoning the theme?
