Google Maps – Google reCAPTCHA – Cloudflare Turnstile

Since Google is now moving all of their “products” into their Cloud platform, so they can charge us for everything from Maps to reCAPTCHA, there is a better way to add google maps to any website, using a simple SiteOrigin editor.

Go to maps.google.com and enter the address of the business you want to add the map for. Click: Share > Embed > Copy

Once you have the embed code, add it into the code view of a SiteOrigin Editor widget, and adjust the width property inside the iframe code to 100%

Preview your changes. Adjust the height property as well, if necessary.

No Cloud account required.

No cloud API required.

No Google BILLING account required!!!

Move all your reCAPTCHA to Cloudflare Turnstile, and you no longer have to be concerned with any bills headed your way from the Google Cloud Platform.

**Hopefully SiteOrigin will add Cloudflare Turnstile as an option to all of their widgets in the near future.

Hi Joe, thanks for the tip! That embed method is a classic way to sidestep the API requirement.

To clarify the current free limits: Google provides unlimited free loads for Maps Embeds and 10,000 free monthly assessments for reCAPTCHA. However, unlike your embed trick, using the official API route now requires a linked billing account even to access those free tiers.

We have a Cloudflare Turnstile Addon available in SiteOrigin Premium for the Contact Form Widget. It allows you to leverage Cloudflare’s free tier (unlimited challenges for up to 20 widgets) and avoid Google’s billing system entirely.

    Thanks again.
    Andrew
