Running Vantage Premium with SiteBuilder now has a problem with pagination. I have tried all the usual tricks to no avail

This sounds like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.
If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.
Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.
If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

Turning off all the plugins except for the siteorigin plugins and clearing the cache was indeed the first thing we tried. Sadly that had no effect on the pagination problem. Since the site is using the Vantage theme changing to a default theme would not go well so we haven’t taken that step.

That was my next step and that changed nothing
Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:

Just navigate to UsersAdd New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and [email protected] for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the Send Password field so we receive the details.
Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

Pagination is working correctly. My guess is there are redirects being targetted at the home page, perhaps interfering with pagination.
My next idea is to completely delete WP Super Cache and see if that helps.

I have remove wp-super cache as well as image border since it was throwing errors that showed up in the log, no joy. I will be doing a clean install on a dev server and importing the content to see if it works and then adding plugins until it doesn't any other suggestions?

When I activate another theme pagination works, when I use the vantage theme pagination stops, unless I change to default permalinks.. but as soon as I change from default it stops working

No, it doesn't, the live site is using the custom homepage option. As soon as I set the reading option to home pagination stops working
