Footer Layout Queries

By JimboG, 10 years ago. Last reply by Greg Priday, 10 years ago.

Hi there,

I have been reading with interest some of the topics on customisation of the footer/footer layout when using the Vantage theme.

As you will see from the “Issue URL” I am working on a website for a friend, which is still WIP. Today I wanted to add a “Privacy Policy” – which I have included in the footer of the site.

Ideally I’d like to have the Text/Font for the “Privacy Policy” be the same as the “Connect with us” text for the Vantage Social Media Widget I am using – the Privacy Policy is just using the Text Widget with a bit of HTML.

As you can see I get a different font which doesn’t look as nice and the Privacy Policy seems to just “float” in the middle/off-centre of the footer. From what I can tell there isn’t (yet?) the ability to use something like PageBuilder to edit the actual layout of the footer – am I right?

Is there a way I could possibly hand-edit something to tidy this up a bit?

Also, is there a way so that my “Privacy Policy” page can be linked to as per the footer link *without* needing to have it in/under my menu structure? (At the moment I have it hanging off “About Everwood” position 4 as a workaround)

Thanks very much for any guidance you could offer.

Kind regards,

James Gillies

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi James

You’re right in saying that there currently isn’t a way to use Page Builder for the footer. This is something we’ve looked into in the past and I’d love to have it in a future version.

If you let me know what changes you’d like to make to that privacy policy widget, I’d be more than happy to help you with some custom CSS. Alternatively, you could also use a Visual Widget that comes with Black Studio TinyMCE to add that link to the footer. It gives you a lot more control over what the link actually looks like.

To have a Privacy Policy page without having it in the menu, you can use the WordPress custom menu system.

This guide is for WordPress.com, but it applies to self hosted WordPress too http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
