A plugin recently updated and it seems to have crashed my site. It won’t load the site nor will it let me log in. All I see is this message on a white screen:
“Fatal error: Call to undefined function vc_add_shortcode_param() in /home/content/46/8525746/html/wp-content/plugins/so-widgets-bundle/compat/visual-composer/visual-composer.php on line 31”
I assume that the best way to fix this is to delete the plugin. Since I can’t login to the website to do that, I know I could use FTP to do it. The only problem is that I am not the web host nor do I have that information in order to go through an FTP server. Is there another way that I can fix this issue?
Hi Morgan
So sorry to hear about this. I’ve passed the bug report to our developers for analysis. They’ll investigate ASAP. Do you have access to the hosting control panel (cPanel or similar). If so, you can go to the File Manager, navigate to wp-content/plugins and delete the so-widgets-bundle folder.
It sounds like Visual Composer might have updated and changed something. The method we’re using to support it is official: https://wpbakery.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/VC/pages/524335/vc+add+param. This is the first we’ve seen this error. We’ll investigate, fix and release an update as soon as we can.
Widgets Bundle is on version 1.9.10 right now. When you see a version bump there you can install it again: https://wordpress.org/plugins/so-widgets-bundle/.
If you’d like to confirm the issue has been resolved before installing it again, please, see the changelog here: https://github.com/siteorigin/so-widgets-bundle/releases
