CSS Not Working to Remove Page Title

9 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 9 years ago

Hello. I am a new user to SiteOrigin and am loving the plugin so far. The only issue is that I’m designing my home page and can’t get rid of the title. I have gone through several of your forum answers regarding this question, and the answer I keep getting is that the CSS I should be using is dependent upon my site’s theme. I’ve tried copying/pasting/modifying some of the CSS that SiteOrigin has given other users to fix it, but it doesn’t seem to be working for me. Perhaps because of the theme I’m using? I am using the “Baton” theme for my site and can’t seem to figure out how to get rid of the title. Thank you.

    Hi Taevo Publishing

Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.

    Hi there!

Yes, it is a public URL. The site is http://www.taevo.net. Right now I have it in “Maintenance Mode”. Would that affect you being able to find the answer you need?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, with your site in maintenance mode we’re unable to view the issue.

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? You can create the account with the following email address:

    [email protected]

Just navigate to UsersAdd New in your WordPress admin. Enter siteorigin for the username and [email protected] for the email address. Make sure you’ve selected Administrator for the role and enabled the Send Password field so we receive the details.

Once we’re finished taking a look, you can delete this account. We’ll let you know when to do that.

Thanks. It doesn’t look like this theme design really works with Page Builder Full Width Stretched rows. Just an observation.

I’ve added a little snippet to AppearanceCustom CSS to remove the home page title.

Thank you for your help and observation. So can you suggest a theme that would work with the Full Width Stretched Rows? I’m still new at all of this…

It’s very rare that themes have an issue with this so most themes would be fine. Perhaps consider our lightweight theme, North:

Okay. If I install this new theme, will you have to redo the code you put in to take out the title, or will it automatically be gone with the current coding?

It’s unlikely that a CSS change like that would carry over. It’s quite quick to change back and forth between themes so you can definitely give it a quick try. Our North theme has page settings to remove the title on each page.

    Hi again.

When I tried to upload and install the theme, I got an error message that reads: “Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access /wp/wp-admin/update.php on this server.

    Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at taevo.net Port 80”

Mmm, at a glance that looks like a permissions issue. What happens when you install it automatically from AppearanceThemes? Use the search bar top right to search for SiteOrigin North and install from there.

Hi there! I got my web hosting company to fix it, so I think we’re all good to go from here! I found the option to remove the page titles, so that is AWESOME! Thank you so much for all of your help!

Nicely done! Really glad to hear that. Thanks for the update and all the best.
