Really love PageBuilder, but occasionally content disappears from the PageBuilder. This happens on one site, and now happened for the second time. It’s completely gone. Here’s what a client said she did when it disappeared “On the page, I went into the Page builder, and changed maybe 3 words, clicked on “done”, clicked the “preview changes” button and noticed nothing was there. I didn’t even hit “update”, I canceled out of the page I was editing but unfortunately it was still gone.”
I did notice sometimes hitting an update and previewing the page shows empty content area, and hitting update again, does the trick. Have you noticed this? Is it normal behavior?
Hi Viktor
We’ve unfortunately had occasional reports of content loss relating, I believe, to Black Studio TinyMCE, Page Builder and specifically when using the preview button. We’ve dug and dug, spoken to customers at length but I don’t believe we have a solid resolution for this. I know it was resolved at some point, then a change was made to WordPress and the issue occurred again. Let me ask Greg to comment here as he’ll know the most up to date reports on this situation.
This issue started coming up in WordPress 3.9 I think. Unfortunately I have never been able to recreate it so I can’t say exactly why it’s happening. It’s possible that the changes that have come with WordPress 4.0 (released today) will do something to fix the issue.
Thanks guys! I do get blank content when updating pages from time to time, so I will let you know if the issue is gone with 4.0. I have a feeling it might be related to updated version of TinyMCE. That’s just my guess.
For sure, please keep us updated on the situation, if you see further issues let us know. Being able to replicate the problem on demand would be the big win in that event.
Hi Andrew,
This happened to me this weekend… I updated the home page, sent an email to my customer, and received a message this morning that it wasn’t what he was expecting. I updated the three columns that come stock with the vantage theme (they show the icons with content and “more info”) and also added two new things yesterday. A call to action (on the bottom left above the footer) and embedded video (to a YouTube video).
If you need any more information, please let me know.
Hi Dan
Sorry to hear about the hassle. Please open a new support thread and we’ll jump in there:

Thanks
Andrew, Greg, I still have this issue with latest WP 4.0.1 and now I have a dev site that has it almost every single time updating the content. When I update widgets on the page, I hit update to update content, it updates, I hit preview to see the page, and it shows up with empty content, I simply need to hit preview button again and it shows up just fine. I don’t know why that’s happening. You said you couldn’t troubleshoot it because you couldn’t replicate the issue. I can provide you with full access to this dev site so you can troubleshoot it and look at it if you would like. Please let me know, and feel free to shoot me an email if you want to take a look at it.
Hi Viktor
Thanks for reaching out.
Chatted with Greg now. Sounds like it’s exactly the bug we addressed in 1.5.4. Can you confirm you’re running that version of Page Builder.
Yes, I’m running 1.5.4, it appears to be the latest version. Is there a beta version I can try out?
Thanks for the feedback. Our demos show to have fixed this so it’s unfortunate to hear you’re still seeing it. Sorry for the hassle. You can try Page Builder 2.0 Beta but it’s very important that you install it on a development, non-production site. It changes data structures so you can’t roll back to 1.5.4 after installing it and it won’t install with 1.5.4 installed.
Hope that makes sense.

Andrew, so is it possible to use 2.0 version on a site that already uses 1.5.4 version? The last bit made it sound like it can’t be upgraded from 1.5.4 to 2.0.
Sorry for the confusion.
Please * do not * use Page Builder 2.0 Beta on a site that is running 1.5.4 and do not upgrade to 2.0 Beta from 1.5.4. So no, it’s not possible.
If you’d like to test Page Builder 2.0 Beta is needs to be done on a new instance of WordPress. The easiest is probably to create a new setup in localhost.
Thanks, that makes sense. What I’m curious about is how do you plan to roll it out to WP repo for upgrades for all existing users? Or will this be separate plugin from current version?
Once it’s ready to go everyone will be able to upgrade. Page Builder 2.0 will change the data structure meaning it’s not possible to roll back. What we don’t want right now is users upgrading, running into a bug and then not being able to roll back because due to the nature of the changes made in 2.0, rolling back won’t be possible.
Thanks, I understand. If you want me to help test upgrading from 1.5.4 to 2.0, do let me know :)
