Considering Vantage as a theme for rebuilding an existing site

9 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 9 years ago

I am a novice with minimal css experience. I want to rebuild a site I created at http://www.barbadosblackbelly.com so that it is responsive. The site uses a vertical menu with beveled buttons (I’m developing the css to handle the buttons) and a page header made up of a graphic (until I can figure out how to style the header text in css). I’d like to ask if Vantage Pro would be a good theme to use for this rebuild. If not, I’d appreciate suggestions for a better theme to use.

    Hi Celkins

    Thanks for your interest.

Sure, Vantage might be a great theme to use, but, not if you have to have a vertical navigation. You could do this with Vantage by setting the main menu to None and then using the sidebar to insert a menu. With all themes it’s best to check the demo:

If you’re happy with the demo and need to make minimal changes then that’s ideal. If you need to make loads of changes to get a theme to look the way you want then it’s best to seek out a theme that is a bit closer to the final product you’re after. We, unfortunately, don’t have themes at the moment with a main left vertical menu. If you have any follow-up questions, please, let me know.

(Vantage also has a boxed layout option that isn’t shown in the demo)
