Connecting a page to a post loop with a numerical category (cat=12, for example)

Hi there,

I’m still pretty new at using PageBuilder, so please forgive the stupidity that is about to ensue. I’m using PageBuilder 2.1.2 in combination with the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle 1.3 and the theme, Vantage 1.2.3, on WordPress 4.2.2.

I’m trying to build a query in a PageBuilder Post Loop widget and am having difficulty. What I’m trying to do is replicate the work of someone else who is no longer running the site and who I cannot get in contact with. It appears that they built post loops for pages using numbers — for example, the post loop for the “Books by Alessandro Barbero” section on the page that I’ve linked (as the Issue URL) has “cat=24” entered in the “Additional” field when you click on ‘Build Query’ in the Post Loop Widget.

On the book page itself, however, I can’t figure out what connects it to that number. I’m sure this is a simple solution and my brain just isn’t catching it, but I’m really struggling and would greatly appreciate any help anyone can offer! I’ve been on the forum for a couple of hours now and have had no luck, but maybe I’m just searching the wrong thing?

The “Issue URL” I’ve attached is actually an example of what I’m trying to replicate.

Thank you for any help you can offer!

Hi there, I’m still really struggling with this and haven’t been able to find a solution. I’d be enormously, infinitely grateful to any help anyone can offer (beyond telling me to get smarter … sadly I’ve tried and I’m afraid this is as good as it gets)!!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Dana

If you browse to Posts > Categories and click on a category you’ll see the cat ID in the URL, it’s the only number there.

    Hi, I Work Here

Additional field shouldn’t be needed for this:

    1. Click Build Posts Query.
    2. Click the Taxonomies field.
    3. Start typing the name of the category you want to display.
    4. Select the one you want.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you Andrew! That only brought up tags for me, not numbers, but your advice inspired me to try something else. I clicked on “Build posts query” and then “select posts” next to the “post in” box. Then I just typed in the names of the pages I wanted to show in the post loop, and saved my selection.

It’s not the same way the other person did it (they used numbers, and I have no idea how to figure out how she did that — for example, “cat=54” would bring up all the book pages related to one author), but it at least looks the same. That’s better than nothing!

I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to help me out across the two questions I had, thank you!!
