Hello, I am using the Origami theme and love it. However, I am having a difficulty with comments.
I am using a static page for me home page, which means my blog is an internal page. I have discussion turned on generally, turned off for each static page and turned on for both my blog page and for each blog post. Still, the comments features does not appear under a post. You can see it here: http://www.bayareatechwriters.com/blog/
I would really like visitors to be able to comment. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks.
Dave
Hi Dave
Thanks for running Origami.
Comment forms only appear on single post pages:
http://www.bayareatechwriters.com/2014/06/13/greetings/
What you can do is use the more tag: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/ to ensure users read a little on the Blog page and then finish the post on the single page where they can also comment.
This layout/functionality is more a function of WordPress than Origami specifically.
Thank you for replying, Andrew. Origami is perfect for me. Really love it.
Regarding my problem, as a test, I applied the Twenty Fourteen theme with all plugins deactivated and comments worked. I am not sure what to make of this. Can you advise?
Dave
Ahh ok I see now. The comment form I see here: http://www.bayareatechwriters.com/2014/06/13/greetings/ is not the default comment form Origami uses. That comment form is the Jetpack comment form. If you turn off that module in Jetpack you’ll get the regular Origami comment form which you see here: http://demo.siteorigin.com/origami/2013/05/06/up-in-the-clouds/
Hello,
I am having the same issue with Vantage. Comments are not displaying on my internal page titled “blog”. I have deactivated JetPack but to no effect. Here’s the page:

It looks like there’s no reference to comments in single.php. Other forum replies suggest that this shouldn’t be the case.
Thanks!
Hi James
Comment forms will only appear on single post pages: http://www.seaboldlearning.com/2014/09/character-strengths-and-virtues-1939-edition/.
Under Appearance > Theme Settings > Blog you can set post content to full or excerpt. If you use full, you can use the read more tag to display a teaser of your posts: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/. Alternatively set post content to excerpt and use the post excerpt field to split your posts up.
For further assistance please open a new thread and we’ll help out there.
