Circle Icons not working properly

By Cory Hecht, 10 years ago. Last reply by Andrew Misplon, 9 years ago.

I am trying to use page builder to put circle icons into my site. When I enter it, a grey circle shows up with code inside of it. For instance, I tried to make the image “headphones” and the circle had the code F025 in it in a box within the circle. I just want to have images that come with it, not custom ones.

Actually, none of the icons are working, including the facebook and twitter icons at the bottom of my site. They are showing up as blue boxes (dark blue for facebook and light blue for twitter) with the same types of code inside them.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks. Do you have a testing page up with the Circle Icons in use?

No. I’ll make one. But my icons in my primary menu aren’t rendering either, and that’s live already.

    Hi, I Work Here

They’re working on my side OS X Chrome. Are you using Firefox?

We’ve fixed this in the past I just forget exactly what we did.

Try some standard steps for me.

    * If you’re running a caching plugin clear the cache.
    * Run any available updates at Dashboard > Updates.
    * Temporarily de-activate all non-SiteOrigin plugins and re-check.
    * Clear your browser’s cache. Check in Private Browsing mode too.

I have checked this on multiple computers. I am using chrome on windows right this second. I have no updates available. I de-activated all of the plugins and I cleared the cache. It’s still showing up as boxes for me. And I don’t have any caching plugins.

It looks like this http://superuser.com/questions/446001/firefox-cannot-render-icons-from-font-awesome-webfont-set except that in chrome it shows up with a blank box with no coding inside of it.

I inspected the circle icon and it’s coming back with this message:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)
    http://www.tizmoret.com/wp-content/themes/vantage/fontawesome/font/fontawesome-webfont.svg#fontawesomeregular?v=3.2.1

    Does that help at all?

Okay I fixed it you can close this! Thank you!

    Hi, I Work Here

Super, glad to hear you managed to sort it out.

Can you perhaps share your solution?

I’ve had the same problem where Chrome (both Windows 7 and OS X) wouldn’t render the Circle Icon Icon.

My problem was the WordPress URL as it was still on my test alias and not my .com domain. I changed the wordpress URL to mirror the site URL (both the same), and chrome started rendering everything as it should again.

    Hope it helps!

      Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for your feedback Paul, much appreciated. Cross domain loading does seem to be the reason for these challenges, namely in Firefox and IE. All the best.

I did what Cory Hecht did: “I have checked this on multiple computers. I am using chrome on windows right this second. I have no updates available. I de-activated all of the plugins and I cleared the cache. It’s still showing up as boxes for me. And I don’t have any caching plugins.” (except for clearing the cache, about which I am no sure how it could matter as the problem exists with multiple computers)

The problem occurred after transferring the site from my localhost to my domain. An example can be found at http://zahrnt.com/kreativ-denken. What could I do? Thanks!

hi, I am experiencing similar issues with both circle icons and also social media icons – the problem however appears to be intermittent.

Can you please direct me to the simplest, least tech solution?

    Many thanks
