Child Theme Needed

Hey guys,

This is my first WP site, first website since angelfire was a thing, and basically I am just beginning to understand how everything works. I am building a new website for my company, and although I don’t have a long list of things I need to code, I have a feeling it will someday go deeper than CSS.

Is it best that I initiate a child theme in the beginning? I have access to our server, but I have never done anything with FTP.

Ack.

    Hi Cassie

Sorry for the late reply here.

Generally, creating a child theme is only really necessary if you’re going to be changing core files of Vantage. Most of the time, you can get away without doing this though. SiteOrigin CSS is an especially useful plugin if all you want to do is make some design tweaks. These tweaks will persist across updates.

Awesome. I do think at some point I will feel it necessary to delve deeper but I will wait until the day! So far Vantage has been pretty nice, thank you!
