Child Theme Default Page

Hi,
I am working on my site locally with Wamp. Using WP 4 and the free Vantage.
I have created a child theme but
While the original default for a page is Content/sidebar
The child default is only full page.
Switching between Vantage and Child, both with Default produces two different layouts.
I have tried moving some php to child theme but no joy.
What am I doing wrong?

    Please send through a list of the files you have in your child theme and we’ll try figure out why this might be happening.
