Changing the responsive menu icon
Hi Guys I am using the premium estate theme with a child theme running for some customisation. I want to change the label on the responsive menu from “Menu” to an icon (fontawsome or similar). I can’t work out what controls this though. It’s not controlled in the header.php file like usual and I can’t seem to see another file that is being used for this. Can you point me in the right direction?

3Hi Simon
I’ll take a look at this for you ASAP tomorrow. I’m sure I can work something up.
Hi Simon
Apologies for dropping the ball here. If you’re still keen, here is a child theme that adds a Font Awesome menu icon before the word menu:
https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/estate-child-responsive-menu-icon.zip
Install the ZIP via Appearance > Themes > Add New: Upload Theme.
Activating a child theme will cause Menu assignments to reset.
I unfortunately wasn’t able to change or remove the menu text in an upgrade safe manner at this time.
Hi Andrew
Thanks for coming back to me. I already have a child theme in place for this site anyway. Can you let me know which files and code you added so I can add that to my child theme directly? I don’t want to install another theme obviously as I don’t want to change any of the customisation I have already done. Tx
