change width of pages

Hi I’m trying to reduce the width of the website. I’ve created metaslider with images 1000 width so I want to change the website to be the same width. I’ve used code that worked fine on another website but it hasn’t worked.

    Sorted. As soon as I enabled it to ‘responsive’ under the layout page, it worked.
