Change the transperency of my background image widgets

Hello, I am using the Sydney theme version 1.31 and I am building my site with SiteOrigin Widgets on WordPress 4.5.3. My problem is that I need to change the transparency that covers my background images. Because what I want is that my background images look brighter. I know this can be solved with a custom CSS editor like the one I have installed that is this one: https://srd.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-add-custom-css/
but I don’t know which CSS to put on my editor.

So what CSS should I use to change the transparency of my widgets? so my background images look brighter and so my site looks a little less gloomier.
I hope this info helps you solve this problem I have, I will be waiting for your responses.

    Hi Kenneth

Thanks for posting your question, sorry we weren’t able to reply sooner.

It sounds like the overlay is being added by your theme, is that the case? If so, it would be best to reach out to theme support as this is most likely a question they’ve resolved in the past.

If you have any SiteOrigin plugin specific questions, please, let us know :)
