change page template for archive page (remove sidebar)

Hello, I’d like to remove the sidebar from my blog archive page, how do I do this? I don’t see the Template selection available under ‘Page Attributes’ where I would ordinarily indicate Full Width Page.
Thank you!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi rpf

    Thanks for reaching out.

One option would be to use:

    http://jetpack.me/support/widget-visibility/

You can set display conditions for each widget. Both positive and negative conditions can be set.

If you’re installing Jetpack for the first time, we recommend going to Jetpack > Settings and deactivating all modules at once. Then, activate the modules you want to use.

I have that, and it’s not achieving what I want. I have many sidebar widgets with logic in place – each is a recent posts loop for the relevant program area. I have a page ‘News’ that is set as the ‘Posts Page’ in wordpress settings. The url /news shows recent posts across the site. Unfortunately the sidebar shows the duplicate stream of recent posts, so I would like the page to be full-width with no sidebar.
It seems I need to alter the posts archive template (but how?) or maybe there is a better way.

    Hi, I Work Here

If you set your sidebar widgets to not display on the archive page, the sidebar will fall away. Sorry for not making that clearer. If all of your sidebar widgets have a “do not display” condition for a particular instance, the sidebar won’t display.

Can you set both hide and show statements for widget visibility? I presently have visibility set to show the sidebar widget if taxonomy = foo. If I add a condition, it only gives me the option of another “show” statement. Perhaps I need to change all widgets to hide when taxonomy is not foo? Not sure the jetpack widget tool gives me that power. Also looking at Widget Logic plugin. Thanks for your help.

Yes, correct, you can add multiple hide statements, please, give that a try.
