Category post page displaying spotty header

When I view the archives of a category it displays “Category Archives: mycategory” as the title. I just want it to be “mycategory”.

    Hi David

    Thanks for your question.

You can resolve this challenge using the following child theme that we’ve created for you:

    https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/vantage-child-category-archives-remove-prefix.zip

    Download the ZIP
Install from AppearanceThemes Add NewUpload ThemeActivate

Activating a child theme will cause menu location settings to reset. It’ll also cause AppearanceCustomizeTheme Design settings to reset. This is, unfortunately, an expected result when activating a child theme. Those settings will need to be redone.

Let us know how that goes.

What do you mean by menu location settings will reset? I followed your instructions and now my site looks all mashed up. Images and widgets and overall everything is everywhere and out of place. Is this what you meant or did something go wrong? If this is what you meant how do you fix it?

    Menus

After activating the child theme go to AppearanceMenusMenu Locations. Save your main menu to the theme’s primary menu location. All of your custom menus are still there, the menu locations have reset back to default.

    Appearance > Widgets

Go to AppearanceWidgets, if any widgets are missing from their widget areas like Sidebar, Header and Footer, you’ll find those widgets at the bottom left in the Inactive Widgets area, drag them back into position. This might not apply to your site.

    Customizer
AppearanceCustomizeTheme Design: all settings at this location have reset. They’ll need to be reapplied.

If you find that the effort involved isn’t worth it, go back to Appearance > Themes and reactivate Vantage Premium and everything will go back to it’s previous state.

The child them is in effect, a new theme, as a result a host of settings, reset, back to their default values.

Thanks! I think I get it. I will let you know how it goes.

We’re glad to hear that helps explain what’s going. Let us know how it goes.
