I was using the Focus Theme with the recommended pack of SiteOrigin plugins.
I had issues with my old site, so I created a fresh WordPress installation, exported the pages, posts, media, etc. from the old site and imported into the new site using the WordPress Import / Export tool, and similar for my plugins. I still have a few issues to work out with that.
I had problems with both sites experiencing a formatting failure while authoring a page, one that cascades down the page as you try to fix it.
For each page, I was trying to set a Hero Image as the page header (different image on each page). Occasionally, this would show as duplicated, that is, displayed correctly in the header, then again as the first image on the page.
Then as I would build the rest of the page, one item would glitch. Usually, this was near the top, and especially when setting a row with two columns, and inserting an image in each (using SiteOrigin Image, Editor, etc., made no difference). The left image would display properly, while the right image would not display correctly (smaller, out of place, etc.). No variations (text with image, captions or not, etc.) make any difference.
Also, I usually end a section with a single row one (100%) column, SiteOrigin Editor widget, text only “horizontal return” which, when rendered correctly, will span the entire page.
When the glitch occurs, the HR is only half the page.
Any actions to correct an issue in one section, when eventually successful, push the issue further down the page. The next HR glitches, or another image fails to render correctly.
I have even tried a fresh new version of the page and manually rebuilt it, only to have the same issue.
In order to maintain my sanity, I have switched all of these plugins off, and am setting out to rebuild the site (again) using a different tool, and a different theme. Which is really sad, because it was looking pretty darn sweet until the glitches start!
It might be a known problem, but it’s worth letting you know about it.
