Can’t upload images to Media Library

10 years ago · Last reply by Magus 10 years ago

I’ve been trying to upload images to my media library, and for whatever reason, they all come up grey. Images with text for my meta-slider, images without text appear, and then when they are edited and resized for the site, they are greyed out in the media library. What am I doing wrong?

I only have 40 resized images in my library. Suggestions?

Trying to recreate the meta slider (which, of course, USED to work) but alas, am stopped in my tracks.

Total newbie.

    Hi Nancy

Can you please install this plugin

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/phpinfo-print/

Once done please navigate to PHPINFO in your dashboard menu. Look for this section in the displayed page under the core options.

    Hi Nancy

Unfortunately we do not allow images in the posts. Could you please either upload the image to your site and post a link here or enter your results as text.

    Thanks

    Hi Nancy

The settings look OK. If the images are large you may need to consider increasing the max-input tom to 180. If increases this does not work please check your folder permissions of the uploads directory in wp-content. These should be set to 755.

If these are correct then please check for JavaScript errors when uploading a new image

    Hi Magnus,

The images have all been resized to be significantly smaller, so none of them are large, as much as I would prefer them to be.

Are you referring to max-input *time*? I see where this is listed on the php info, but how do I change it? I'm not a website builder, which is why I chose Vantage, thought it would be out of the box.
Likewise, am lost when you talk about folder permissions in the uploads directory of wp-content. No clue how to access that.

Interestingly, when I use Safari as my browser instead of Firefox, the images appear, the meta slider works. Things seem to work. But nothing on
Firefox. I don't use Chrome, so can't check it there. Firefox is up to date. Any idea why there may be a conflict? Very frustrated.

    Hi Nancy

Please try clearing your browser cache, and then refreshing the page to see if that helps. I have checked the metaslider in all browsers and it works in all of them for me. You can make changes to your sites php settings by visiting your hosting control panel. You can also check your folder settings by using the file manager in the control panel.
