Can’t download PDF files from Vantage Theme

Hi I have been trying to add links to a PDF file in my media store.

Creating the link is no problem but when I click on the link it does nothing, no error message just nothing.

I have checked to see if it is a security plugin and I opened a thread on the wordpress multisite forum but no one has an idea until I found on another site that suggested it was the theme I was using.

I have setup another temp site and used the default twentysixteen theme and created the same link and it works just right.

Other allowed media works as expected on vantage just PDF files are an issue for me.

This site is not live yet so I cant provide a link to it unfortunatly.

Any ideas why this is not working? Is it a bug?

Thanks

I think I am going to have to abandon the vantage theme if we can’t resolve my issues with downloading PDF files.

Please can someone at SiteOrigin respond

    Thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jonathan

Thanks for the patience. With our pay-what-you-want system we do make Vantage Premium available for less than $15, but we don’t offer premium level support at these lower prices.

A good way to check if this is related to the theme is to temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme and see if that fixes the issue.

I seem to remember encoutering this issue before though, as far as I remember it had something to do with the “ATTACHMENT DISPLAY SETTINGS” settings. When you’re adding a file using the visual editor, down the right hand side you’ll see this section.

For a PDF, I think you need to make sure this is set to Media File.

Thanks for the reply. I have already tried using the default theme Please see my original post, and it works perfectly so I have to conclude the Vantage theme has an issue with PDF files.

I have checked the the link is medial file by default. I have tried the other options as well as a test.

    Any further ideas?

    Thanks

hmm OK I have tried to apply the default theme on the live site and this link doesn’t work either but does if I create a new site or if I add the same PDF to another site which is using the Vantage theme. I guess its not the theme
